About

Hi there,

As you have hit my “About” page , I guess you are either interested in the person behind the site, wondering what on earth this site is all about, or - of course, you have hit the wrong button and have no interest in either, but we will ignore that option for now and try to answer the other two.

My name is Sharon and I have been taking photographs for a long time now. You can read a potted history of myself  on my other site http://www.smerredewphotography.co.uk/about.html as you can access it there, I wont bore you with all the details right now. All you really need to know is that I love photography, I’m not great at it, but I am learning at a very fast pace.

I am a great believer that the best way to learn something is through a project of some form (so right this second, I am learning about blogs and the various ways you can build and maintain a site such as this.)  Just before christmas 2009, I was introduced to the idea of making a picture a day for a year. I eagerly listened when told that the discipline of making yourself pick up the camera every day had already enhanced the skills of many photographers who had also taken up the challenge.I don’t like taking on things if I dont think I can finish them, so after much consideration, I picked up my camera on new years day for photo number one.

I am now about 1/3 of the way into the year and though the photos are posted daily to my Flickr site http://www.flickr.com/photos/missmerredew/ I started to hanker after somewhere of my very own to store them and document the learning curve that has gone along with them. And you have found it!

As I post a photograph, I am hoping to share not only my thought processes behind the pic but also the part of that steep learning curve I find myself on. I do hope that you enjoy both the photographs and the background reading.

If you would rather just look at my best photographs then may I encourage you to hit this link http://www.smerredewphotography.co.uk/gallery.html which will take you to the site I mentioned earlier.

I do hope you find all you are looking for here.

Ooooh one more thing…

I sometimes find it had to come up with ideas for subjects for the project. If you have any great ideas – please leave me a suggestion, then pop back to see what I have done with it.

Thanks again

Sharon
